United Church of Christ: Rights of Palestinian Children

Posted on Jul 3, 2017

Today delegates at the national gathering for the United Church of Christ (UCC) in Baltimore voted to pass a resolution asserting the rights of Palestinian children!

The aim of the resolution is to call attention to “the traumatic situation of children living with constant fear of arrest, detention, and violence at the hands of Israeli forces.” It calls upon the UCC to advocate for their human rights. It asks church leaders to petition the prime minister of Israel and the Israeli ambassador to guarantee due process for Palestinian children and abide by the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child. It also calls on the U.S. government to cease military aid to Israel.

During the hearing, youth from the UCC selected the resolution as one that they would like to advocate for. They spoke for three minutes on the importance of voting in favor of the resolution.

As simple as the demands of the resolution are, it is likely to draw backlash from Zionists. Please help us show the UCC that people around the world appreciate their bold stance by sending them a thank you message.

As always, your support for FOSNA makes victories like this possible. Please consider giving today, to support upcoming resolutions at the Mennonite gathering in Orlando July 5-8, and the Disciples of Christ gathering in Indianapolis July 8-12.

This Thursday, I will be live streaming the hearing for a resolution in support of Palestinian rights at the Mennonite gathering. Sign up to tune in to the live stream, and we’ll make sure to e-mail you when we are about to go live!
