On June 30, the Sumarins, a Palestinian family in East Jerusalem, is going to court to try to hold onto their ancestral home — perhaps for the last time.

The Jewish National Fund (JNF), through its subsidiary organization, Himanuta, is seeking to evict this family of 18 from their home in Silwan.

I am fuming. I was one of those young Jewish kids who put tzedakah, charity, in a blue JNF box before most Friday night Shabbats to help grow trees in Israel through the JNF. It was years later that I learned that these same trees strategically covered the remains of Palestinian villages. The JNF, which gets support from donors from around the world through the guise of fulfilling “Jewish values,” are in opposition to Jewish values and support extremist right wing politics in Israel.

Tell the JNF: Let the Sumarin family live in peace and safety!

After a 30 year court battle, the Sumarin family is facing a final chance in their appeal, and we need your help to hold the JNF accountable for what they’re doing.

The details of the case are complex, but the bottom line is that it’s morally wrong that the JNF is behind the Sumarin family’s eviction order, and we need to take action to stop this cruelty.

Take action now to support the Sumarin family and all families who should have the right to remain in their homes.
