As the day is coming to an end and the sun is beginning its descent, soldiers entered a house, while, quickly blindfolding and removing a 14 year old son from a place where everyone should feel comfortable and safe, home. CPT received this information and rushed by the concerned shopkeepers pointing the way. When we arrived, the gates were already shut.

The previous night, this family had a terrorizing experience as Israeli soldiers protect a group of settlers climbing down onto the rooftop of a Palestinians house. Since, this family lives in an area outside of the Palestinian authority (H2) there is no police force to call and no military to protect them. Palestinians, here, are not allowed to have tools of self-defense like in other countries.

So how would one respond to a threat, that night, by an Israeli settler saying “If you don’t leave this house, I will slaughter your children one-after-the-other in front of you.”? And then to having their 14 year old son arrested by a military and taken to a prison (Ofer)?

The child was later released on the conditions of a 1000 NIS fine and 6 months of probation.
