In 2016, FOSNA achieved

Posted on Dec 30, 2016

Dear Friends,

We have a lot to be thankful for this time of year. Most of all we are thankful for our community of supporters who channel their faith, time, and resources into supporting our work. In 2016, because of that community, we were able to:

  • Encourage the inclusion of G4S in the list of companies the city of Berkeley will divest from due to the organization’s complicity in the unjust U.S. prison system and Israeli interrogation facilities that incarcerate and torture Palestinian political prisoners, including children.

  • Hire our first communications coordinator to amplify our Christian Voice for Palestine.

  • See four new denominational divestment wins from the Evangelical Lutheran Church, Alliance of Baptists, Unitarian Universalists, and Catholic Conference of Major Superiors of Men.

  • Bring Palestinian voices to Presbyterian and Unitarian Universalist General Assemblies.

  • Lift up the wisdom of our elders and capitalize on the energy of our youth by launching our Clergy Support Network and Praxis Seminary Working Group, and by expanding our successful internship program.

This is just the beginning. In 2017, we plan to:

  • Encourage hundreds of churches across the United States to become HP-free.

  • Bring Palestinian-American testimonies in support of divestment resolutions to the 2017 denominational general conferences of the Unitarian Universalists, United Church of Christ (UCC) General Synod, Mennonite Church USA, and General Assembly of the Christian Church Disciples of Christ.

  • Support the denominational Palestine-Israel Networks (PIN) as they build bases of support for additional resolutions to further Palestinian rights.

  • Join the Black and Palestinian liberation movements in a groundbreaking national tour featuring Ahed Tamimi, Nadya Tannous, and Amanda Weatherspoon.

  • Educate congregations on Israel’s mistreatment of children and provide a pathway for congregations to take action on this critical issue.

We need to raise $9,800 in order for these initiatives to be successful. Before the clock runs out on making tax-exempt 2016 donations, will you give to FOSNA and provide vital support to this movement?

Gratefully,
