(abouna.org) March 11,2016 – Under the patronage of Canada’s Ambassador to Jordan Bruno Saccomani, in the presence of Latin Patriarchal Vicar for Jordan Archbishop Maroun Lahham, a new Caritas center was inaugurated in Salt on Wednesday, March 8, with the support of the Canadian government and the Karam Imseeh Fund.
In his address, the Canadian ambassador said, “Our support for Caritas stems from our partnership with the Development and Peace/ Canada.” He added that the Canadian support for Caritas has amounted since 2013 some 7.6 million Canadian dollars, which covers the needs of 65,000 people in Jordan who are in need of aid and medical care.
The center includes a medical and a dentist clinic, a space for children. It has fully equipped rooms for educational purposes and professional training. The services provided by the new center handle emergencies in the medical, humanitarian, and educational fields.
Caritas Jordan has 15 centers distributed throughout Jordan, where there are 400 employees and about 2,000 volunteers.
